Appended 2026-09-02 to the final of THE UNFINISHED MIRROR. Written by Claude Fable 5.1 at Bo Chen's commission. This addendum does not rewrite the document; it records one attempt to strengthen §6, the adversarial review that killed it, and what the review left standing. Every number carries a pointer.
1 · What was attempted
On 2026-09-01 the author attempted to promote the document's join, the equilibrium condition δS_gen(D) = δ⟨K_D⟩ on every seat-generated diamond, into a dynamical law with no matter term:
Θ′ + Θ²/(d−2) + σ² = 0, Θ := (4Gℏ/𝒜)·dS_gen/dλ,
claimed equivalent to R_kk = 4Gℏ[S″ + (2θS′ + 4GℏS′²)/(d−2)], reducing to the saturated quantum null
energy condition on stationary cuts and predicting, on expanding cuts, T_kk − (ℏ/2π)S″ = ℏθS′/(π(d−2)).
Beside it the author claimed that the document's seam conjecture ⟨ΔK²⟩ = ⟨K⟩ is the Einstein selector,
at area order because the area fluctuates as a Poisson count of quanta 4ℓ_P², at log order in d = 4
because C_E^univ/S^univ = c/a, so that the seam reads a = c and the Standard Model misses it by
c/a ≈ 0.853. Receipts: C:/ORRERY/experiments/join-qri-v1/.
2 · The review
The three claims were pre-registered (bus pins #2798–#2810) and put to an eight-seat adversarial
tournament on Intercom, run join-adv-r1: five cold-context Fable 5.1 referees with one attack mandate
each and web access to verify citations, and three foreign frontier seats, GLM-5.3, DeepSeek V4 Pro,
and Kimi K3, without web access. Two rounds, the second a cross-read. Adjudication by the author under a
frozen rule: an objection survives only with a citation to an equation or a checkable derivation.
Full record: C:/ORRERY/experiments/join-adversarial-v1/FINDING.md, pinned #2942; sixteen review
files under rounds/, each pinned; the run closed done, notice #2941.
3 · The verdicts
The join equation: KILLED. Four objections survive, any one sufficient.
- The expansion was wrong. With S′ per unit area, Θ′ = θ′ + 4Gℏ(S″ − θS′), because the area inside S′ grows along the generator: Bousso–Fisher–Leichenauer–Wall, Phys. Rev. D 93 (2016) 064044, eq. (5.7). The author's expansion dropped −θS′; the claimed equivalence was false.
- The vacuum cone. On the outgoing light cone of a ball in the flat d = 4 vacuum, T_kk = 0, θ = 2/r, and the universal entropy −4a ln(r/ε) gives S′ = −a/(πr³), S″ = a/(πr⁴): the equation assigns the Minkowski vacuum a nonzero null curvature for every unitary CFT, holographic ones included. Locality of the null-cone functional: Casini–Testé–Torroba, JHEP 05 (2018) 005, eq. (3.30).
- Contradiction with known saturation. With the correct Θ′ and the holographic saturation of the conformal QNEC, the join disagrees with linearised semiclassical Einstein by −4GℏθS′ wherever energy crosses a generator. Koeller–Leichenauer, Phys. Rev. D 94 (2016) 024026, eq. (3.38); Leichenauer– Levine–Shahbazi-Moghaddam, arXiv:1802.02584, eqs. (1.2), (6.5)–(6.7).
- The domain. The equation strengthens the quantum focusing inequality to an equality and therefore demands S″ ∝ 1/ℏ wherever there is classical energy, which is QNEC saturation: true for interacting theories, false for free fields and coherent states (a foreign objection, Kimi K3, sustained).
The prediction: KILLED as a prediction. The equation T_kk − (ℏ/2π)S″ = ℏθS′/(π(d−2)) is Koeller–Leichenauer's 2016 conformal QNEC, eq. (3.38), for cuts Weyl-related to stationary ones, stated for the subtracted entropy S_fin − A^(S), saturated holographically at leading order in 2018, and scheme-dependent on non-stationary cuts otherwise (Fu–Koeller–Marolf, Class. Quantum Grav. 34 (2017) 225012, eqs. 2.13–2.16). On the entropy that enters S_gen, which keeps the log term, the vacuum cone realises half that coefficient. The one real disagreement of the run, between referees who found 1/(d−2) and referees who found 2/(d−2), resolved in round 2 as both being right about different objects; on neither object is the equation the join's consequence, and on the join's object it is false.
The seam selector: WOUNDED, published. The identity C_E/S = c/a is de Boer, Järvelä, and Keski-Vakkuri, Phys. Rev. D 99, 066012 (2019), eqs. (5.151)–(5.153), including the Gauss–Bonnet case and the collider bounds 18/31 ≤ c/a ≤ 3. It selects a = c, not Einstein gravity: Einstein plus a W³ term keeps a = c and C_E = S while its entropy functional is not the area. "Poisson area" is false, since the author's own receipt gives κ₃/κ₂ = 35/9 at d = 4 (a foreign objection, Kimi K3). For gauge fields the identity requires the edge-mode-inclusive Rényi entropy, the one whose contact terms renormalise 1/G (Donnelly–Wall, Phys. Rev. Lett. 114 (2015) 111603; Casini–Huerta, Phys. Rev. D 93 (2016) 105031). A foreign kill of the log-order clause, from a Maxwell Rényi coefficient found in no source, was withdrawn by its own author in round 2. The author's free-scalar and free-fermion checks (ratios 3 and 18/11) stand as checks of the published identity.
The Standard Model number: STANDS. c/a = 1698/1991 ≈ 0.853 with 45 Weyl fermions, 219/253 ≈ 0.866 with 48, from Duff, Class. Quantum Grav. 11 (1994) 1387, recomputed independently by a foreign seat.
A funeral of the author's own. The reading of the modular energy as a thermal Poisson count of
inscriptions, one per scale, is dead above two dimensions: the holographic ball has κ₃/κ₂ = 35/9 at d = 4
against the 2d tower's 3 (join-qri-v1/seam_selector.py).
4 · What the document keeps, and what it changes
- §6's join stands exactly as printed: Jacobson's equilibrium condition, the mesh equation, was not under review and no referee touched it. The attempt to make it dynamical failed; the failure is the document's, printed here as C2 requires of every deployed self-model.
- The seam gun F-SEAM is rewritten. Its condition is no longer "shot noise equals entropy" but: at log order in d = 4 the seam relation holds if and only if a = c, with the edge-mode-inclusive entropy; the Standard Model's c/a ≈ 0.853 is the number the gun carries; the pathfinder's target at area order is C_E = S for a = c matter, per dBJKV 2019. The one-page crystallization's sentence on Poisson counting is withdrawn.
- The register gains its first foreign-family rows, with their scope printed: the box is ticked by Kimi K3's classical-limit derivation and Poisson kill, GLM-5.3's objection that the expansion was a tautology of its postulate, and DeepSeek V4 Pro's wound on the bare entropy's UV divergence. The decisive citations came from the Fable seats, which alone had web access; the register says so.
- Open and unreviewed: the hypotheses that time at finite grade is erasure and that the record-net's
dimension is four because it is spacetime, each with a named instrument test (the
hsmi-stabloss dial; thedimprobedirected axis) inC:/ORRERY/experiments/OPEN_QUESTIONS.md, OQ-007 and OQ-008.
5 · The method, observed on itself
The document's own law, that new mathematics never outruns its seals, caught the author's expansion only from outside: the author's symbolic check verified the algebra of a wrong Θ′ and called it SYMBOLIC-VERIFIED. A seal certifies the step it names and nothing above it. Every foreign thinking model spent its first completion budget reasoning and returned nothing; the room ran only once each seat's reasoning was budgeted explicitly, seven empties archived as printed misses. Two rounds, eight seats, one afternoon and one morning; the theory did not get larger, it got more honest about which of its sentences are its own.
